Introducing ARLO Beauty Sunscreen:

Starting A New Trend:

It is important to note that not all sunscreens are alike.  Sunscreens vary in their ability to protect against UVA and UVB and their ability to bind to your skin and remain there to protect you.

In the past people have been pretty complacent about using sunscreen but that trend is changing.  People are becoming more and more aware that sun protection is important and using the right sunscreen is key.  Whether you are an amateur or professional athlete or a soccer dad; you need to educate yourself about sun protection.

Background on sunscreens:

  • There are two types of ultraviolet rays that we get from the sun: UVA and UVB.  These rays damage the skin, give us wrinkles, and can cause skin cancer.
  • Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world with more new cases of skin cancer than lung, breast, prostate and colon cancers combined!
  • If you can’t stay out of the sun, especially at peak times, using sunscreen is the most important preventative measure you can take.   About 90% of non-melanoma skin cancers are caused by UV rays from the sun.
  • The American Academy of Dermatology recommends everyone use sunscreen that offers the following:
    1. Broad-spectrum protection (protects against UVA and UVB rays).
    2. Sun Protection Factor (SPF) 30 or greater. (SPF 30 blocks 97% of UVB rays / SPF 50 blocks 98%)
    3. Water resistance.

What to Look For in a Sunscreen

The FDA allows for two distinguishing claims:

  • Broad Spectrum – this means the sunscreen protects from both UVA and UVB rays
Along with preventing skin cancer, a broad spectrum sunscreen protects against photo damage, the primary cause of signs of aging
  • Water Resistant for 40 or 80 minutes – After independent testing, the sunscreen can make either a 40 or 80 minute claim or no claim at all if they do not pass the test

Independent testing has certified that ARLO Beauty’s SPF30 Sunscreen has passed and can make both broad spectrum and 80 minutes water resistance claims.

So Which Sunscreen Should You Choose?

The most important criteria when selecting a sunscreen is to select one that you will actually use.  It should meet the criteria described above (broad spectrum, at least SPF 30 and ideally have 80 minutes water resistance) but it should also feel good.

BENEFITS OF ARLO Beauty

ARLO Beauty’s sunscreen meets all of the criteria described but in addition it has a US patent; so there is not another sunscreen like it on the market.   Avobenzone can lose up to 36% of its sun protection abilities in the first hour in the sun. Our sunscreen has been awarded a patent for its ability to stabilize the avobenzone for over eight hours.  Not only is this sunscreen’s protection unique, it also stays on your skin and won’t run in your eyes. It let’s your skin breathe and that makes it a go-to sunscreen for athletes across North America participating in golf tournaments, cross-country cycling, football games and other outdoor sports.

TWO PATENTS

  • SUNSCREEN:  “Sunscreen Composition With Enhanced UVA Absorber Stability and Methods”, Patent Number 8128913

(Avobenzone can lose up to 36% of its potential for UV absorption after only 1 hour of exposure to sunlight, if not stabilized. Our patent stabilizes Avobenzone for 8+ hours)
