What to Look For in a Sunscreen
The FDA allows for two distinguishing claims:
- Broad Spectrum – this means the sunscreen protects from both UVA and UVB rays
Along with preventing skin cancer, a broad spectrum sunscreen protects against photo damage, the primary cause of signs of aging - Water Resistant for 40 or 80 minutes – After independent testing, the sunscreen can make either a 40 or 80 minute claim or no claim at all if they do not pass the test
